I'm a working cinematographer and have been using the EL Zone System with the support of SmallHD monitors on Sony and Arri cameras. When will the system be implemented in those cameras? It would facilitate ease of use as well as providing a direct mapping of the frame for each camera's exposure range. I'm also a professor at a major university and we have just purchased a new RED camera. I've never been a fan of the Gio Scope because I found it over-complicated, though on the right track. The EL Zone would be a great addition to the RED workflow and a wonderful pedagogical tool for my students. Please let me know if EL Zone is being embraced by RED.
EL Zone has been a game changer over False Color and Waveform monitoring in that it clearly maps the exposure across the entire frame of the image. For my students it really helps them understand exposure and contrast in how they create an image. Personally it's a simplified communication tool to maximize the range of my exposures with confidence.
Thank you for creating such a useful software.

I've become an avid user of the EL zone system and I don't understand why it's taking so long for camera manufacturers to implement this technology. I have had great success with it over false color in which there is no standard between manufacturers. EL zone understands where the exposure is specifically in the frame. Monitor manufacturers have embraced this and understand how important a tool it can be for creating images for the cinematographer. Why is it taking so long for camera manufacturers to utilize it? There's so many other tools in cameras we don't even use but this is something we've been missing in order to interpret our exposure and using stored information from sets to either come back to, or use a reference for the future. Thank you Ed Lachman ASC and the EL Zone system, i look forward to using it in a Sony, Arri, Red, or Blackmagic cameras sooner than later.

It would be great if the EL Zone system could be added to Blackmagic cameras and Feelworld monitors.
I just found out that Atomos monitors are starting to implement the EL Zone System in their system. That means that more brands (at least monitoring brands) are joining so that's good news.
Do you know if Blackmagic wants to implement it in their Video Assist cameras and monitors? Are there talks about it?
In Chile, after the majestic photography of the film The Count, together with the discussion with part of the technical team, blew the minds of many of us in the room. Now it will be our new standard of measurement.
Long live master Ed Lachman.
Thank you for your thoughts and comments. We're in discussions with Sony, ARRI, and RED. Hopefully they see how beneficial the technology is for filmmakers like yourself.
